Winter/Spring 2025 After School January 7th - June 20th

Clay Play is an inquiry based creative hand building exploration that emphasizes mindful process and experimentation. To this end, Artist Educators have cultivated a series of rotating lessons to enhance makers' understanding of ceramics and the artistic process. With an emphasis on process over product, our collective aim is to cultivate an artistic cohort of confident makers.

Comprehensive understanding of the properties of clay and the inner workings of the ceramics studio will be taught throughout each month. Ceramic projects include whimsical and functional objects to outrageous sculptural designs and everything in between.

Maker’s will have the opportunity to fire a limited amount of pieces in the kiln to take home each month . This semester we are limiting the quantity of work fired to be more in line with sustainable efforts.

Our goal is to put in place a sustainable art making practice where experimentation is valued over quantity of finished products. Our educators will rotate clay day’s with art projects that expand our knowledge of history, technique, play and design. Projects can include drawing, sculpting with found materials, collage and gardening.

Our program is a safe space for every child to be their creative self. We ask that every child be an active participant in maintaining a safe and kind learning environment.
