class description
If you are a newbie to clay, this one’s for you!
This class is for students to build with clay for the first time. Each student will gain the fundamental knowledge of both handbuilding and basic wheel throwing skills. Emphasis will be placed on the material of clay and students will handbuilding techniques of pinch, coil, slab, and extruded clay. Students will be introduced to the wheel, learning how to wedge, center, throw, trim, and glaze. Once students feel they have a good sense of each technique, students can focus their time on either handbuilding or wheel, or both. Various glaze and decoration techniques for finishing work will be introduced in this class. While this is geared towards beginners, it is open to anyone looking to brush up on these foundational skills or have access to both handbuilding (6 weeks) and wheel (6 weeks) in the same class.
